2 Oct 2007 Golf Foundation and Parmaker encourage youngsters onto the greens The Golf Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Life’s a Ball Ltd, creator of the Parmaker putting mat, as an Official Product Partner. The Golf Foundation has recognised that Parmaker can play a positive role in helping children to learn about putting, the product having features that young golfers of all ages and abilities can enjoy. Parmaker will be used in schools, within school sport partnerships and Community Link golf clubs by the Golf Foundation’s team of Regional Development Officers. Mike Round, Chief Executive of the Golf Foundation, said: “Parmaker is clearly an innovative product for youngsters and can help them improve putting skills as part of a fun game. This kind of entertaining and educational activity can have an effect on children taking early steps in sport. As many will know, the Golf Foundation has carried out major golf initiatives in schools while using Tri-Golf, modified safe and fun golf equipment which helps us reach 500,000 youngsters a year. Hopefully, Parmaker can also be used to help get across the message to young children that golf can be a fun sport to take part in.” Created by teaching golf professional and Director of Life’s a Ball, Peter Stebbings, the Parmaker has gained recent endorsements in golf and in the world of education. Gary Alliss, Head Professional at The Belfry, said: “Thousands of children come to the Golf Academy here each year after school and on weekends – they all play the Parmaker and have lots of fun whilst they learn the game.” Roger Whitaker, Head Teacher at Our Lady’s Roman Catholic High School in Royton, himself a scratch golfer, said: “Golf is a long slow game, but kids want instant results; the Parmaker gives that. In addition, its great mixture of games allows children to develop their numeracy whilst learning putting skills.” Source: The Golf Foundation http://www.golf-foundation.org/news.cfm?nws=216 Golf Foundation website: http://www.golf-foundation.org |
